Please find below some key information for students studying on the EMerald Master Programme (students will receive further guidance after their successful selection).
When to arrive
Each student is free to arrive in Liège when they wish (in accordance with beginning of the teaching period of the programme). However, it is highly recommended that you arrive by the end of August/beginning of September, to have time to settle in to the area before the beginning of the academic year ( usually mid-September).
If you are a national from a non-European country, you will need a Type D visa for studies in Belgium in your first semester. Please check here* for the necessary documentation.
*Please be aware that the documents referred to on this website only constitute the basic documents that have to be submitted. Other additional documents may be required by the Belgian diplomatic or consular representation, taking into account the circumstances relating to your file or to the specific context of your country of origin. In order to find out to which embassy or consulate you will need to submit your visa application to, as well as any additional documents please check here.
You should check the information and if possible gather all the necessary documents, so that you are ready to lodge a visa application once the letter of acceptance is sent to you. If you are a scholarship holder from Erasmus Mundus or the University of Liège, you will receive (along with your personal letter of acceptance) your scholarship certificate as well as a document exempting you of the fees paid to the immigration office. This exemption only concerns fees to be paid to the immigration office, you should check whether there are any additional fees to be paid to the consular post/embassy.
Download the draft of the student agreement for Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders, describing the rules and obligations before entering the programme.
